Fans of Motocross we're treated to an awesome days racing last Sunday (6th
April) with
Maclean Dirt Bike Club
playing host to Round 3 of the North Coast MX Series. The NCMX Series is a 4
way invitational interclub series for members of, Kyogle Dirt Bike Club,
South Grafton Ex-Services Motorcycle Club, Maclean Dirt Bike Club and Coffs
Harbour Motorcycle Club.
The Series has a strong following every year and this year was no exception.
Over 200 riders and over $2 million dollars worth of Motor cross Bikes
converged on Maclean Motorcycle Park at Townsend ready for 3 rounds full, of
high competitive motocross racing.
Practice started at 9am sharp with the Division 1 Class (boys and girls aged
between 4 and 7) tearing up the track like they owned it. Unfortunately no
one told them they didn't own it and they made their own track, they all had
a great time taking shortcuts here and long cuts there, all riders thought
it was a fantastic track even though they should of been riding on their own
shortened version track. All div 1 riders finished their practice a little
confused but happy to get the butterfly's out.
The
rest of practice went through uneventful, with 45 riders on the track at
times testing out new lines and planning the quickest route for the races
which would follow. By about 10:30 am racing started and what excellent
racing was witnessed by the 500+ crowd. Joshua Coote topped the podium in
the 50cc 7 - U9 Years while Joel Adamson won the 65cc 7 - U10 Years Class
and hot young riders Jake Mcleod and Ben Simpson both took out their
respective classes 85cc 12 - U16 Years and 85cc 9 - U12 Years.
Then the bigger bikes took to the track with Club A Grade 125cc 2
Stroke/250cc 4 Stroke being won by Jacob Dank of Kyogle and the A Grade Over
125cc 2 Stroke/250cc 4 Stroke taken out by Macleans very own Mark Rogers.
The Over 35s was won by Kelvin Fielding from Kyogle and Maclean local boy
Shane Edmonds took out the Overs 45s. On top of the podium for Club B grade
125cc 2 Stroke/250cc 4 Stroke was Joel Feltrin from Coffs Harbour and the
Club B Over 125cc 2 Stroke/250cc 4 Stroke taken out by Andrew Blackford also
from Coffs harbour. The hotly contested Opens class was won by Nicholas
Sutherland from South Grafton closely followed by local Maclean man Mark
Rogers.
