If slamming whoops, carving berms and flying high over jumps is your idea of fun, then motocross is the sport for you. Motocross is one of the more physically demanding forms of motorcycle sport that really tests the limits of both body and machine. Motocross is run on tracks man made or natural terrain and produces fast, close and exciting racing.

Where to start?
In order to ride/race on any licenced track you need a competition licence.
There are six different types of licences in New South Wales for motocross riders.

Nipper Licence
For riders from 4 years to under 7 years and is a non-competitive licence in NSW.

Senior and Junior National Licence
Holders of a national licence can compete in any authorised competition under the jurisdiction
of Motorcycling Australia. This licence must be purchased prior to the event and it is current for one year.

Senior and Junior Club Licence
Holders of a club licence can compete in "Closed to Club" and "Interclub" competitions.
This licence must also be purchased prior to the event and is also current for one year.

One Event Licence
A one event licence can be purchased at "closed to club" and "interclub" competitions on the
day of the event from the Race Secretary.  This licence is valid for one day only.

To find out more on how to obtain a licence you can either contact a member of the club committee who
will outline the procedure to you or contact Motorcycling NSW

Machines and Clothing
To compete in NSW your machine must comply with the General Competition Rules (GCR's) as outlined in your "Manual of Motorcycling Handbook".  You must also wear appropriate riders clothing in accordance with the GCR's.  This information is updated all the time by our governing body and it is a good idea to keep yourself familiar with the rules as outlined in the handbook by visiting the Motorcycling NSW website on a regular basis.
