Licence Photos
At the recent General Meeting of the Motorcycling Australia Council, it was
resolved to support a proposal to remove photographs from riders licences. From
today 11th September 2009 NSW licences are being produced without photos and
will be valid at all MA sanctioned events. Instead, Licences will have a
signature strip on the reverse, which needs to be signed to be validated.
Photographs are being phased out for a number of practical reasons:
· Many photos are outdated and no longer resemble the person
· There is no way to verify that the photo supplied is that of the person
applying for a licence.
· MA are moving to online licence renewals in the near future, the supply of
photos electronically adds another level of complexity for applicants –
particularly since the concept of online applications should simplify the
process
What does this mean for you:
If you are a parent or rider, you no longer have to search around or pay for a
passport photo. You no longer have to put up with photos that were taken years
ago and no longer resemble the licence holder.
What do I need to do?
Simply sign your licence when it is received. For junior riders it needs to be
the junior rider who signs the card. Parents may sign for junior riders who
cannot yet write.
Hang on; doesn’t a rider have to be over 18 before being able to sign anything?
Yes, for legal documents. The licence has been produced after the legal document
(the licence application) has been signed by a parent/guardian. The signature is
one means to identify a rider, should it be required. In this case the rider is
not signing anything that requires compliance or understanding; this has already
been done by the parent/guardian in the licence application, and the event for
which the rider is producing the licence.
If you have any enquiries please contact the office on 02 9635 9177.

25th
May, Floods floods and more floods. The road out to the track was full of
water Saturday afternoon. The only form of transport out to the track was by
horse back. Our thoughts go out to Colin (Club President) & Janelle (Club
Secretary) who both had water lapping at their front doors. Thankful all are ok!
Plus we are thinking of all the other club members who maybe caught up in the
floods.
OFFICIALS COURSES
To
hold an event in NSW, Motorcycling Australia (MA) requires 4 key officials to be
present. They are Steward, Clerk of the Course, Race Secretary and Scrutineer.
These key officials ensure that the event is run safely and according to the
requirements of both MA and MNSW.
The
first step in becoming a key official is to attend a GENERAL SEMINAR. This gives
a great insight into our sport and qualifies you to be a marshal, starter or
timekeeper. Then to become a key official, you attend the seminar for the
official you are interested in becoming and assist that official at a number of
race meetings. It is not only a great way to support your club but a way to
ensure that the sport continues to grow. Volunteers are the backbone of any club
and are essential in running race meetings on tracks that are safe for our
children (and us!)
Officials are sometimes difficult to find and courses don’t come up very often
on the North Coast. We are lucky to have 3 courses coming up in Ballina.

30th March,
The track started to dry out over night ready for Sundays Senior & Junior Riders, but as soon as they (the riders) started rolling in at 6:00 am so did the rain! Filling up every hole, rut and bump with even more glorious mud. The wild looking track didn't stop proceedings and
it was Practice as normal right on 9am with all riders looking nice and clean, but by the end of practice you couldn't tell who was who from the amount of mud stuck to the the bikes and riders. A few minutes under the gerni
(including the riders) their bikes were all clean ready to start racing. Thankfully the rain stayed away after practice making way for 3 great Rounds of MX Racing.

28th March, Mud, glorious MUD! 20 mil of rain feel on Friday
night making for an interesting first day at Round 2 of the North
Coast Motocross Series. A change to the practice order still didn't
help the little 50's from getting stuck in some 10inches deep MUD
puddles in what seemed like every turn. But after a few laps the
little nippers learnt how to take the driest line possible, most of
the 50's manage to complete all 3 rounds. The 65cc's had a ball
ripping through the thick sticky clay like mud, leaving a BIG job for
mum and dad to clean the bikes ready for the next round. The 85cc's
had no problems tearing around the track and the muddy conditions only
added to the great racing between the top riders.
